RYT-200

Vinyasa sequencing and instruction, meditation, mindfulness facilitation.

200-hour teacher certification through Rising Sol Yoga School, Alexandria, VA

PROFILE:
Yoga has informed my teaching in all disciplines, whether leading a vinyasa practice at Bowie State University or establishing healthy, mindful rehearsal process for movement-based performance. I have been a practicing yogi for 7 years, and completed my 200-hour teacher certification in Spring 2024.  My vision for yogic instruction is to hold space for a range of students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, genders, and experience. My experience for 25 years as a physical theatre professor and teaching artist has shaped my respect and care for each individual body and spirit, seeking to meet each yogi where they are on their journey. Along with my professional life, I enjoy biking and meditating with my 2 youngest children (and love spending time with my 5 older children who have grown and flown!).

Currently teaching at:

Early Bird Vinyasa and Power Flow at Breathe, Body, Mind in West Springfield

Flow Yoga at Yoga in Del Ray in Alexandria, VA

Community Vinyasa and Teaching Staff at Rising Sol Yoga Studio in Alexandria, VA

Workshops at Bowie State University, National Alliance of Acting Instructors, and Southeastern Theatre Conference.

Five mindful steps for the creative.

  1. Be aware and in the present moment.
  2. Focus on your breath.
  3. Use a mindful mantra to remind your worth and strength.
  4. Welcome challenges for they are lessons.
  5. Give gratitude.
